Jerry Schemmel is a longtime sportscaster, currently a radio announcer for the Colorado Rockies. Prior to the Rockies, he spent 18 seasons as a play by play announcer for the Denver Nuggets. He is also a survivor of United Airlines Flight 232 that crashed in Sioux City, IA in 1989. He is the author of two books and has been a contributing writer to several national publications. Schemmel is an avid cyclist, having done three rides across the country, including the Race Across America in 2015. A native of South Dakota, Schemmel has two grown children and resides in Colorado with his wife of 32 years, Diane.
